twin lakes (monashees)

Description:

Located outside of Cherryville, the drive to Twin Lakes is typical of logging roads. We recommend a SUV or other vehicle with high clearance. The hike starts with traveling up a gradual incline through a forested area. As you get further along the trail, you will find a small valley with an open clearing. This clearing is beautiful; we recommend taking a peek before heading to the peak.

The trail will finish at the lakes. If you're willing to soldier though, there are two nearby summits that are accessible with some mild scrambling (climbing using one's hands). This will add another 1-2 hours to the hike making it approximately a 5 hour round trip. The hike is possible as a day trip, but we strongly recommend planning to stay overnight. This will give you the full twin lakes experience.

**Note: When we first did this hike (June 15, 2017) there was over 6ft of snow. As such we can’t speak to the beauty of the lakes themselves as they were covered with a thick layer of ice. This hike has some spectacular mountain views especially from the top of the nearby unnamed summits.
