frog falls

Description:

One of many beautiful natural wonders that seem to culminate around Revelstoke. Frog falls is located near a forestry camp site of the same name. This shorter hike will take you to a large damn built on top of a natural waterfall. From here you can get up close and personal with the falls which provides many great photo ops especially with it being surrounded by a magical coniferous forest.

The campsite itself backs onto Wap Lake FSR, which is an active logging route so you may occasionally be disturbed by the loud sound of trucks passing. Aside from that the campground is free to use without reservation, amenities aren't exactly plentiful but you do get a nice plot of dirt and picnic table to set up camp.

This is an excellent area to stop if you are planning on heading deeper into the mountains such as Joss Peak on a multi-day trip.

Directions:

This hike is approximately 2 hours 20 minutes drive from Kelowna or 30 minutes drive from Revelstoke.

  1. Driving from Kelowna, head north along Highway 97 towards Revelstoke.
  2. Once you reach Sicamous, head East along Highway 1 for 48.6km.
  3. Turn right onto Wap Lake FSR just before Three Valley Gap. Stop here and reset odometer.
  4. Drive for 4.3km along this dirt road until you see signs for Frog Falls Campground on your left.
