How we Make MOney
We want to be completely transparent in running this site. While there's no cost to you, we do make money off you. 25% of all profits made from this site are donated to the Canadian Parks and Wildlife Society. Below is our 3 streams of revenue and why we have them.
Banner Ads
These are used to break even with our monthly website hosting fees. The hope is the ads delivered on our site will be content that is outdoor related and of interest to you.
In reality, we know how annoying these ads can be. Our goal is to weave them into our content without being obnoxious or turning hikers away. Unfortunately, they are part of doing business on the internet; we need them to survive. If you have any feedback on the placement of our ads or how we can better serve you, please let us know HERE.
Affiliate Links
These are featured on our GEAR page. Affiliate links are links to stores that allow you to buy our recommended products. When you purchase a product through the link we supply, we get a portion of the proceeds. It's not much money, but it helps us offset the costs of driving to and reviewing hikes for you.
We do our best to recommend the same gear that we use. As we are all college students, we understand what it's like to want the best value for your dollar. Our goal is to do the research for you and provide you will a quick way to get the equipment you need.
Local SPONSORSHIPs
We want to give back to our community. The goal is to get enough traffic on the site to make that dream a reality. We will get local businesses dealing in hiking gear and related products to give you exclusive deals on gear you need. Local businesses in Kelowna will get the exposure they need; you get the best deals on equipment you want. We also take a fee for advertising local business to our members.
