sugarloaf mountain

Description:

Sugarloaf Mountain is a great start to spring hiking, as its low elevation allows for early season access, letting you warm up your legs for larger hikes later on in the season.

Just short of an hour outside downtown Kelowna this hike offers a breath of fresh air from city life that can be found snow-free as early as mid-April.

Perfect for people of all experience levels, follow the mid-grade ascent up the mountain and take in the views off the rocky ledges on the other side.

*Note: Although it’s possible to car a small car (we’ve done it) an SUV would be ideal due to changing road conditions.

Directions:

This hike is approximately 50 minutes drive from downtown Kelowna.

  1. Coming from Kelowna drive over the bridge towards West Kelowna.

  2. Take a right at the overpass onto Westside Rd.

  3. Follow Westside Rd for 41.7km then turn left onto the road labeled with "North Westside Rd Transfer Station"

  4. Follow this dirt road up approximately 3.7km keeping left to stay on the main road.

  5. You will arrive at a small clearing with "Sugarloaf Mountain" clearly labeled on your left-hand side. Park your vehicle here.
