Kayaking Spot
oyama lake
Description:
Stumbling into Oyama Lake is like finding a hidden piece of paradise, being only an hour drive from Kelowna I was shocked that I had never heard of this place. Once you arrive at the parking area you'll find yourself in a small community that will only remind you of a summer camp. The area is clean, well managed, and everyone is super friendly.
Taking your kayak or canoe down to the water's edge is a quick walk from the parking lot where you will find a small dock and a floating platform out in the water for swimming.
The lake is riddled with small islands and is very shallow at some points so be wary of bringing any motorized boats, although it is often done. Any of these small islands make a great spot to set up camp for a weekend as you explore the several hiking trails surrounding the lake.
